Six Ways to Create a Better Life for Yourself

Let Yourself Say NO
It's perfectly OK, we promise! In today's world, we're inundated with information, obligations, invitations and more. If you're someone who feels like you can't say no, you're likely feeling stretched WAY too thin. It's time to start saying 'no' in a clear, kind and direct way. Try this: "No, I can't. Thanks for thinking of me!"
Make Your Bed
In his famous book, The Power of Habit, Charles Duhigg writes, "Making your bed every morning is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of well-being, and stronger skills at sticking with a budget." We agree! It's that first task of the day that leaves you feeling like you've already accomplished something. Not to mention, it feels great to climb into a perfectly made bed after a long day.
Get Rid of Stuff You Don't Need, Want or Like
Many of us live in homes stuffed to the brim with, well, stuff. You know those six random keys you've had in your junk drawer for nine years? You're not going to find the mysterious locks; toss 'em. That expensive sweater you hate, but feel obligated to keep? Donate it to a local shelter. The 15-year-old broken snow blower sitting in the garage that you're "going to fix one day?" You're not; haul it to the curb. Give yourself permission to get rid of the excess and you'll find it makes life a bit easier and a lot tidier.
Treat Yourself
Take time for you! And don't pick something unhealthy, i.e., "I've had a long day; I'm treating myself to this carton of ice cream!" Find ways to indulge that aren't food or don't require spending extra money. Ideas to get you started: Take a day off work to do nothing but lounge, nap or watch movies or enjoy long bath with a good book.
Maintain Wellness
Unfortunately, most Americans live under what many people call "sick-care." This means that people don't head to the doctor or seek treatment unless they're ill. We're invested in another model—true "health-care." As chiropractors, we believe in maintaining health and well-being through regular chiropractic adjustments and therapies, good nutrition, consistent exercise and great sleep habits. If you're reading this from one of our offices—congrats, you're already on your way!
Be—and Love—Your Authentic Self
Finding your authentic self is a never-ending journey of self-discovery and acceptance. You should feel proud and unashamed of the unique qualities that make up you! Know, recognize and honor your values and the things that bring you joy.
